About Anastasia

As Roy Peter Clark and Chip Scanlan put it, good newswriting is the intersection of civic clarity — the information citizens need to function — and literary grace.

Anastasia E. Lennon is a journalist based in Massachusetts. Writing is her passion. Journalism gives her writing purpose. Her words and reporting have been featured in the New Bedford Light, ProPublica, the Standard-Times, the Patriot Ledger, and heard over the airwaves on WCAI, a local NPR station.

Her reporting has taken her to federal courtrooms, the bases of turbines many miles offshore, fishing boats, and (her favorite) a geological core repository.

Anastasia believes local news is a critical bulwark of democracy. It informs the citizenry, holds institutions and people accountable, and connects communities.

She grew up on the North Shore of Long Island and studied history and anthropology at Stony Brook University. She went on to earn a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University in 2019. New York will always be home, but Massachusetts has become a wonderful second home.
